About National Mall Gateway

Inspired by the American Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence in 2026, the Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service partnered to create the National Mall Gateway, a groundbreaking new platform that brings to life America’s greatest living history classroom.

The National Mall is the iconic space that tells the story of our nation’s founding—but more than that it is America’s Civic Stage, the backdrop for pivotal moments in our nation where we come together to share in our profound democratic ideals. We invite you to immerse yourself in storytelling, the monuments and memorials, and some of the little-known history behind this treasured American space.

The National Mall Gateway was conceived and developed by the Trust for the National Mall to meet the demand of the millions of students and visitors who come to experience the National Mall every year, and virtual visitors across the world, to help them connect more deeply to the history behind this national treasure, to learn their civics and to become more informed citizens.
Just in time for America’s 250th in 2026 we’re partnering with leading organizations and experts in civics, history and education to make the National Mall Gateway the one central place to connect to history and to plan your visit to America’s Front Yard.
